In 1995 I created a webpage with information on sexual harassment as a supplement to a course on gender and communication. The webpage became popular, and I have been updating it regularly. Since 1995 a great many changes have taken place in the general understanding of sexual harassment and in the information available on the internet. There is now a greater understanding about the extent and impact of sexual harassment in schools as well as in the workplace. Businesses take the issue seriously and many provide training for employees. Many commercial services have begun to offer training for managers and employees. The internet is plastered with commercial websites offering information, products, and services.

At the same time, each year many people first become aware of sexual harassment when they or their children are harassed in the workplace or in school. There still seems to be a need for general information about sexual harassment. Hence, I have decided to maintain this webpage as an outreach activity of my scholarly work in communication. However, readers of this webpage should be aware that I am not an expert on issues of sexual harassment. My expertise lies in the discipline of speech communication. I have gathered information about sexual harassment from experts to post to this webpage. I have copyright permission from all authors whose work appears in these pages to post such information. To the best of my knowledge and belief, information on this webpage is accurate and up-to-date. However, I am unqualified to answer legal questions about specific cases or to offer any advice on the topic of sexual harassment.

My goal is to provide a selection of documents and resources that allows readers to explore the concepts associated with sexual harassment from a variety of perspectives. I hope that information provided to readers will help them to learn more than the legal definition of sexual harassment and to become more sensitive and effective communicators at work and in their personal lifes.
